BLAST ANNOUNCE COACHING CHANGES

Miller hired as Defensive Coordinator MEMPHIS BLAST·THURSDAY, JANUARY 28, 2016

Memphis, TN, January 28, 2016 – The Memphis Blast are proud to announce that Lawrence Miller Jr. has been named the Defensive Coordinator for the 2016 season. Coach Miller has spent several seasons with the organization, as a player Miller has been named five times to the GDFL Pro Bowl.He is a 3x Team MVP and has been the Blast team Captain 4 of the last 5 seasons.

Blast General Manger Lazarus Settles said ‘Lawrence Miller has been a guy that has always shown passion, commitment, and knowledge. Settles is crystal clear that he has been groomed to lead the Blast into Battle into 2016 and beyond. We talked X’s and O’s, Offense and Defense and he flat out knows the game." Eric Cuthirds has also been promoted to Assistant Head Coach, which will allow him to be more involved and will have an expanded role on both sides of the ball. Garland Lonzo has been brought on as Offensive & Defensive Line coach.

“Promoting Cuthirds to Assistant Head Coach is a huge help to both Miller and myself, stated Thompson his years of coaching this game and his knowledge will be gigantic during prep and in-game situations. Like Lawrence Miller playing career, he has been nothing short of awesome so far in the time he’s been with us. The input he’s put forward and his prep at this point has been exceedingly good.
